INTRODUCTION
Cheval Blanc Randheli: Is This One of the Maldives’ Finest Luxury Resorts?
There are luxury resorts in the Maldives, and then there are resorts where luxury itself is the experience.
Cheval Blanc Randheli belongs firmly in the second category.
Set in the remote Noonu Atoll, this LVMH-owned Maison combines exceptionally spacious villas with highly personalised service, sophisticated dining and one of the country’s most distinctive spa experiences. Rather than relying purely on the traditional barefoot-island formula, Randheli brings a distinctly French sense of design, art and hospitality to the Maldives.
The result is polished without feeling generic.
Its 46 villas are unusually generous in size, every villa has a private infinity pool, and the resort’s accommodation ranges from secluded beachfront villas to expansive overwater residences. The current villa collection includes 220-square-metre one-bedroom categories, while the two-bedroom options reach approximately 295 square metres.
But Randheli’s appeal goes beyond its villas.
There is a Guerlain spa on its own island, an impressive collection of restaurants, personalised experiences created by the resort’s Alchemists, and an aesthetic shaped by designers and artists rather than conventional Maldivian resort styling.
And that’s precisely why Cheval Blanc Randheli is interesting.
It isn’t simply trying to be another beautiful Maldives resort.
It is trying to deliver a complete luxury experience at an exceptionally high level.
OUR VERDICT
Is Cheval Blanc Randheli Worth It?
9.7 / 10
Cheval Blanc Randheli is one of the Maldives’ strongest choices for travellers who value service, privacy, design, exceptional villas and sophisticated dining above all else.
The villas are enormous, beautifully designed and highly private. The service philosophy is unusually personalised, while the dedicated Guerlain spa island gives the resort another dimension beyond beach and lagoon life.
The dining programme is equally ambitious, ranging from Italian-inspired cuisine at Deelani to Japanese and East Asian flavours at Diptyque and the highly refined French experience of Le 1947.
The main caveat is value.
Randheli is not a resort you choose because it represents affordable luxury. You choose it because you want one of the most polished and personalised resort experiences available in the Maldives—and are prepared to pay accordingly.
Tripadvisor’s current guest sentiment is remarkably strong, with 4.9/5 from 353 reviews. Recent reviews repeatedly praise the service, villas, culinary experience and spa, although some guests have expressed more mixed opinions about particular lagoon locations and diving.
Best for:
Ultra-luxury · Honeymoons · Couples · Families · Food lovers · Spa lovers · Privacy · Exceptional service
Less ideal for:
Travellers prioritising affordability · Guests seeking a strong house reef directly from the villa · Those who prefer a rustic, barefoot aesthetic

LOCATION & ARRIVAL
Where Is Cheval Blanc Randheli?
Cheval Blanc Randheli is located in the Noonu Atoll, in the northern Maldives.
Its remote setting is part of the appeal. You are not choosing Randheli for convenience—you are choosing it for the feeling of being considerably removed from the capital and the busier resort areas.
The resort is accessible by seaplane, and Cheval Blanc operates its own seaplane service for guests. Independent luxury-travel sources put the journey from Malé at approximately 40 minutes, depending on operating conditions.

Getting to Randheli
Malé → Private Seaplane → Noonu Atoll
Approximately 40 minutes
Worth knowing: Randheli’s remote location adds to the sense of escape, but the seaplane connection also means arrival planning matters more than it would at resorts close to Malé.
40 minutes by Seaplane
The Lagoon: Beautiful, But Not Randheli’s Main Draw
The waters around Randheli are undeniably beautiful, but I would not position this resort primarily as a house-reef destination.
That distinction matters.
Some independent guest reports praise the lagoon and marine encounters around the resort, while others describe the house reef as less impressive than the strongest reef-focused resorts in the Maldives.
That makes Randheli different from resorts where the house reef is the headline attraction.
At Randheli, the stronger reasons to visit are:
Villa → Service → Dining → Spa → Privacy → Lagoon
rather than:
House Reef → Diving → Snorkelling

Recent reviews also provide useful balance.

The Villas at Cheval Blanc Randheli
Space Is the Real Luxury
If there is one feature that immediately separates Cheval Blanc Randheli from many other luxury resorts in the Maldives, it is the scale of its villas.
Even the entry-level one-bedroom villas are remarkably generous. The current collection includes 220-square-metre Water, Lagoon, Horizon and Garden Water Villas, while the beachfront Island Villa measures 240 sqm. Larger two-bedroom residences range from 295 to 315 sqm.
But size alone isn’t what makes them special.
Randheli’s villas are designed as private residences rather than simply places to sleep. Large living areas, generous bathrooms, dressing rooms, outdoor spaces and private infinity pools give each one a strong sense of separation from the rest of the resort.
And importantly, every villa category comes with its own private 12.5-metre infinity pool.
That combination of space, privacy and indoor-outdoor living is central to the Randheli experience.
Which Cheval Blanc Randheli Villa Should You Choose?
Rather than simply choosing the most expensive villa, it is worth thinking about what kind of Maldives experience you want.
| Villa | Size | Setting | Best for |
| Island Villa | 240 sqm | Beachfront | Couples & families wanting beach access |
| Water Villa | 220 sqm | Open ocean | Classic overwater experience |
| Lagoon Villa | 220 sqm | Lagoon | Couples seeking calm lagoon views |
| Horizon Villa | 220 sqm | End of pontoon | Privacy & expansive ocean views |
| Garden Water Villa | 220 sqm | Garden + water | Best of both worlds |
| 2-Bedroom Garden Water Villa | 295 sqm | Garden + water | Families & groups |
| 2-Bedroom Island Villa | 315 sqm | Private beachfront setting | Families wanting maximum space |
Villa sizes and configurations based on Cheval Blanc’s current official accommodation information.
01 — Island Villa

Best for: Beach lovers and families
The Island Villa is the category I’d look at first if your idea of a Maldives holiday starts with your own stretch of sand rather than an overwater deck.
At 240 sqm, the one-bedroom Island Villa is larger than the 220 sqm overwater categories and combines a beachfront setting with a private garden, outdoor dining pergola and 12.5-metre infinity pool.
Its layout feels particularly residential, with a large living room, bedroom, dressing room and substantial bathroom opening towards the tropical surroundings.
Why choose it?
Beach + garden + pool + privacy
For families, the two-bedroom Island Villa takes the concept considerably further, with 315 sqm, a private beach setting, garden and the same 12.5-metre infinity pool.
Our take: If you want the traditional Maldives combination of sand, vegetation and your own private pool, this is one of Randheli’s most compelling choices.
02 — Water Villa

Best for: The classic overwater Maldives experience
At 220 sqm, the Water Villa is anything but compact.
Set on traditional stilts over the water, it combines a large interior with an overwater deck containing dining and lounging areas and a 12.5-metre private infinity pool.
The interior includes a spacious living room, powder room, large bedroom, double dressing room and an expansive bathroom with both indoor and outdoor rain showers.
This is the villa for travellers who want the quintessential Maldives overwater experience, but with considerably more living space than the word “villa” might suggest.
Our take: A superb all-round choice for couples who want to wake up surrounded by water without needing the most specialised villa category.
03 — Lagoon Villa

Best for: Couples and calm lagoon views
The Lagoon Villa is also 220 sqm, but its position over the lagoon gives it a different character from the Water Villa. Cheval Blanc describes it as being set above calm waters, with lagoon views and a generous overwater deck.
The layout includes the same impressive 12.5-metre private infinity pool, spacious living room, dressing room and large bathroom.
The difference is less about facilities and more about setting and outlook.
Our take: A particularly attractive choice for couples who prefer the softer, more intimate feel of a lagoon-facing villa.
04 — Horizon Villa

Best for: Maximum views and a sense of seclusion
There is only one Horizon Villa, and its position makes it particularly interesting.
Located at the very end of the pontoon, the 220 sqm villa faces towards the open Indian Ocean and offers panoramic views. Its overwater deck includes a private 12.5-metre infinity pool, outdoor shower and floating hammocks.
That position gives the Horizon Villa a stronger feeling of being removed from everything else.
If views matter most…
This is the villa I’d investigate first.
The Horizon Villa isn’t necessarily about having more space—it is about having a particularly dramatic relationship with the ocean.
Our take: One of Randheli’s most desirable one-bedroom options for couples prioritising privacy, uninterrupted views and a special sense of place.
05 — Garden Water Villa

Best for: Having both garden and ocean
The Garden Water Villa may be the most interesting compromise in the collection.
At 220 sqm, it combines an overwater deck and ocean views with its own lush private garden. The villa also has a 12.5-metre infinity pool, outdoor dining and a substantial indoor living and sleeping area.
It essentially gives you two environments:
The ocean side for swimming, lounging and sunsets.
The garden side for privacy, shade and outdoor living.
There is also a two-bedroom version at 295 sqm, making this category particularly relevant to families.
Our take: Probably the most versatile villa concept at Randheli—and an excellent choice if you can’t decide between beachfront and overwater living.
So, Which Villa Would We Choose?
For a honeymoon or romantic escape, my shortlist would be:
🥇 Horizon Villa
For the most dramatic sense of privacy and ocean views.
🥈 Water Villa
For the classic overwater experience with enormous space.
🥉 Lagoon Villa
For a calmer, more intimate lagoon setting.
For families, I’d look first at:
🥇 2-Bedroom Island Villa
315 sqm + beachfront setting + private pool.
🥈 2-Bedroom Garden Water Villa
295 sqm + garden + lagoon/ocean setting.
Don’t Automatically Book the Most Expensive Villa
This is where I think Randheli deserves a more nuanced review.
At many Maldives resorts, upgrading to a more expensive villa can mean getting a larger room or a better view. At Randheli, the differences are more about how you want to experience the island.
If you spend most of your time swimming, dining and exploring the resort, paying substantially more simply for a particular view may not transform your holiday.
On the other hand, if this is a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon, anniversary or milestone trip, the right villa location can become a major part of the experience.
The Horizon Villa, for example, isn’t dramatically larger than the other one-bedroom overwater categories. Its appeal comes from its position at the end of the pontoon and panoramic ocean outlook. That’s an important distinction when comparing categories.
What About the Private Island?
For the ultimate Randheli experience, there is also the Cheval Blanc Randheli Private Island.
This is in an entirely different league from the standard villas.
The private island is a one-hectare, four-bedroom residence measuring more than 2,200 sqm, with a 25-metre swimming pool, private beach areas, gardens, dedicated team, private spa treatment room, fitness centre and screening room.
It is designed for up to eight guests and is accessible via its own private berth and jetty.
Our take
For most couples, this is unnecessary.
For a large family, multigenerational group or private celebration where budget is secondary to exclusivity, however, it represents a completely different level of resort living.
The Villa Verdict
Cheval Blanc Randheli gets the fundamentals of a luxury Maldives villa exactly right:
Space. Privacy. Pool. Indoor-outdoor living.
But what makes the accommodation particularly successful is the variety of settings.
You can choose beachfront, lagoon, open ocean, garden and water, or the extraordinary privacy of the Horizon Villa.
That means the best villa isn’t necessarily the most expensive one.
It’s the one whose setting matches the holiday you actually want.
Our villa score: 10/10
Best overall for couples: Horizon Villa
Best classic overwater choice: Water Villa
Best beach option: Island Villa
Best of both worlds: Garden Water Villa
Best for families: 2-Bedroom Island Villa
Ultimate group escape: Private Island

Dining, Spa & Experiences at Cheval Blanc Randheli

Where Randheli Goes Beyond the Villa
A spectacular villa can make a Maldives holiday memorable. At Cheval Blanc Randheli, however, much of the experience happens away from your villa.
The resort’s five restaurants, three bars, dedicated Guerlain spa island and unusually personalised activities give guests plenty of reasons to leave the pool.
And this is one of Randheli’s strongest advantages.
The resort doesn’t treat dining, wellness and activities as supporting facilities. They are integral parts of the Maison’s identity.
Dining at Cheval Blanc Randheli
Five Restaurants, Five Very Different Experiences
Randheli’s current dining programme includes five restaurants and three bars, ranging from relaxed all-day dining to Japanese and East Asian cuisine, private family-style meals and an 11-course French gastronomic experience.
That variety matters at a resort where many guests may stay for a week or more.
You are not simply choosing between buffet and à la carte.
You’re choosing between completely different culinary settings.
The White
Your relaxed everyday restaurant
The White is Randheli’s main restaurant and the easiest place to settle into a slower island rhythm.
It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a relaxed brasserie-style approach and a menu influenced by island and Indian Ocean flavours. The setting combines ocean views with tropical gardens.
This is likely to become the restaurant you’ll use most often, particularly at breakfast.
Best for: Breakfast · Casual lunches · Relaxed dinners
Deelani
Mediterranean flavours over the lagoon
Set above the water, Deelani brings Italian and Mediterranean influences to a distinctly Maldivian setting.
Its turquoise surroundings and open-air atmosphere make it particularly appealing for lunch, while dinner takes on a more romantic character as the lagoon gives way to evening. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner.
For many guests, this is likely to be one of the most memorable combinations of food + setting at Randheli.Best for: Lunch · Seafood · Mediterranean flavours · Sunset
Diptyque
Japanese and East Asian cuisine with theatre
Diptyque takes a very different direction.
The restaurant focuses on Japanese and East Asian cuisine, with open kitchens creating a more theatrical dining experience. Its design deliberately plays with duality, while a tropical garden provides a more intimate outdoor option.
There is also Teppanyaki by Diptyque, where the preparation becomes part of the entertainment.Best for: Japanese cuisine · Teppanyaki · Special evenings
La Table de Partage
Dining designed around togetherness
La Table de Partage is less about a conventional restaurant format and more about sharing an occasion.
The large family-style table can be used for private gatherings, with the culinary team tailoring menus around the occasion and guests’ preferences.
For families or groups travelling together, this may be more interesting than another formal restaurant dinner.
Best for: Families · Groups · Celebrations · Private dining
Le 1947
Randheli’s most ambitious dinner
At the top end of the dining experience is Le 1947, named after the celebrated Château Cheval Blanc vintage.
The current concept presents an 11-course French gastronomic experience in an elegant setting overlooking a tropical garden. It is designed as a more immersive fine-dining occasion rather than somewhere you simply drop in for dinner.
The restaurant currently operates for dinner on selected evenings, so guests should check the schedule during their stay and reserve ahead.
Best for: Fine dining · Celebrations · Gastronomy · Wine lovers

How Good Is the Dining?
This is one area where the guest feedback is particularly encouraging.
Tripadvisor currently shows Cheval Blanc Randheli at 4.9/5 from 353 reviews, and recent guest feedback repeatedly highlights the culinary experience alongside the service, villas and spa. One March 2026 reviewer described the culinary experience as exceptional, praising the overall attention to detail from the airport lounge through to the villa and spa.
That doesn’t mean every meal will be extraordinary.
But the breadth of the programme is a genuine strength.
Our dining verdict: 9.8/10
Best feature: Variety without sacrificing a strong sense of place.
The Cheval Blanc Spa

A Guerlain Spa on Its Own Island
If the villas are Randheli’s greatest accommodation strength, the Cheval Blanc Spa is arguably its most distinctive wellness feature.
The spa occupies its own dedicated island, creating a physical separation from the main resort and a much quieter environment for treatments and relaxation.
It is also home to what Cheval Blanc describes as the Maldives’ only Guerlain rituals, with treatments created specifically for the Maison.
This isn’t simply a treatment room attached to a resort.
The entire island is designed around wellness.
More Than Treatments
The experience extends beyond massages and facials.
The spa offers personalised wellness programmes, while yoga and meditation can also be arranged in settings ranging from beaches and gardens to overwater pavilions.
There is also a Spa Bar with an infinity pool overlooking the atoll, alongside a menu focused on lighter, health-conscious food and drinks.
Why this matters
At many Maldives resorts, the spa is something you visit once or twice.
At Randheli, the dedicated island makes wellness feel like part of the destination itself.
Our Spa Score: 10/10
Best for: Couples · Wellness escapes · Honeymooners · Guests who enjoy full-day spa experiences
Things to Do at Randheli
You Can Be as Active—or as Lazy—as You Want
Randheli isn’t a resort where activities are simply listed on a board and left for guests to organise.
Its Alchemists design personalised experiences around individual interests, occasions and moods.
That philosophy is important.
You could spend an entire afternoon doing absolutely nothing.
Or you could fill the day with activities.
Ocean & Marine Experiences
The resort offers a dedicated dive centre, snorkelling and diving experiences, watersports and other ocean activities.
The current experiences programme includes activities ranging from jet skiing and sea-bobbing to tailored diving and snorkelling, with options designed for different levels of experience.
For guests interested in the underwater world, this means Randheli can still be an excellent base for exploring the surrounding Noonu Atoll.
But remember the point made earlier in this review:
Randheli is not a resort I would choose primarily for its house reef.
If exceptional shore snorkelling is your number-one priority, there are other Maldives resorts better suited to that particular holiday.
At Randheli, the appeal is the overall experience, with marine excursions complementing rather than defining the stay.
Sport & Fitness
For guests who need more activity than walking between the villa, restaurant and beach, Randheli has a surprisingly broad sporting programme.
The resort lists:
- Two tennis courts
- Fitness facilities
- Watersports
- Diving
- Surf simulator
- Various personalised sports experiences
The official fact sheet also confirms a dedicated dive centre, surf simulator, watersports facilities and two tennis courts.
Best for active travellers
Tennis + water sports + diving + fitness
That’s an unusually comprehensive combination for an ultra-luxury private-island resort.
Families at Randheli
Luxury Doesn’t Mean Adults Only
One of Randheli’s more important advantages is that it works surprisingly well for families as well as couples.
The resort has dedicated children’s experiences through Le Carrousel, with activities designed for different ages, along with family experiences on the beach and in the surrounding islands.
The programme goes beyond simply providing a kids’ club.
Children can take part in activities such as tennis adventures, beach games and family Olympic-style events, while the resort can also create more personalised experiences around the family. This makes Randheli particularly interesting for affluent families who don’t want to compromise on the level of dining, design and service simply because they are travelling with children.
The Experience Verdict
Randheli’s greatest strength is not any single restaurant, treatment or activity.
It’s the ability to customise the holiday.
You can have an elaborate 11-course dinner one evening, spend the next morning doing nothing but swimming from your villa, disappear to the Guerlain spa in the afternoon, and finish the day with a private experience designed around your interests.
That flexibility is what makes the resort feel genuinely luxurious.
Our experience score: 9.8/10
For relaxation: ★★★★★
For dining: ★★★★★
For spa & wellness: ★★★★★
For activities: ★★★★★
For families: ★★★★★
For house-reef snorkelling: ★★★★☆
Our Take: Where Randheli Really Excels
After looking beyond the photographs and villa sizes, this is where Cheval Blanc Randheli starts to make sense.
It isn’t simply selling:
A beautiful island + an expensive villa.
It is selling:
A highly personalised holiday where almost every element can be tailored around you.
That is the real Cheval Blanc proposition.
And it explains why guest reviews so frequently mention service and attention to detail alongside the physical beauty of the resort. Tripadvisor’s current 4.9/5 score and recent reviews strongly reinforce that pattern.
For travellers willing to pay at this level, that distinction matters.
Bottom line
Come for the villas.
Stay for the service.
Remember the dining and spa.
And let the Alchemists build the rest around you.

Who Should Stay at Cheval Blanc Randheli?
Cheval Blanc Randheli is not simply a luxury beach resort. It is designed for travellers who value space, privacy, exceptional service and highly personalised experiences as much as they value the natural beauty of the Maldives.
The resort works particularly well for:
Honeymooners & Romantic Escapes
For couples, Randheli offers an unusually strong combination of privacy and space.
The villas are enormous by Maldivian standards, most feature a 12.5-metre private infinity pool, and the resort’s five-island setting creates a feeling of separation that is difficult to replicate at larger, more conventional properties.
For a honeymoon, the Horizon Villa is especially appealing for its position at the end of a pontoon and panoramic ocean outlook.
Best choices: Horizon Villa, Water Villa or Lagoon Villa.
Ultra-Luxury Travellers
If your priority is simply finding one of the Maldives’ most refined luxury experiences, Randheli belongs firmly on the shortlist.
This is where the combination of large private residences, personalised service, fine dining, a dedicated Guerlain spa island and highly tailored experiences becomes important. The luxury here is less about conspicuous extravagance and more about space, privacy and attention to detail.
Food & Wine Lovers
Randheli is particularly compelling for travellers who consider dining an important part of the holiday rather than simply a necessity.
With five restaurants covering French gastronomy, Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, Japanese and East Asian flavours, relaxed international dining and private shared experiences, there is considerable variety for a resort of this size.
The dining programme also makes a longer stay more attractive because guests are not dependent on a single restaurant night after night.
Best for: travellers who want fine dining without leaving the island.
Spa & Wellness Travellers
The dedicated Cheval Blanc Spa island is another major reason to choose Randheli.
With Guerlain treatments, wellness facilities, an infinity pool and a peaceful island setting, the spa is much more than a conventional treatment room attached to the main resort.
If spa time is an important part of your Maldives holiday, Randheli is particularly strong.
Families Wanting Luxury Without Compromise
Randheli is not exclusively a couples’ resort.
Its large villas, two-bedroom residences, private-island option and family-focused activities make it surprisingly well suited to multigenerational trips and families travelling together.
The resort also offers dedicated children’s experiences through Le Carrousel, while activities such as tennis, watersports and family excursions provide plenty of options beyond the beach. For larger families or groups, the 2-Bedroom Island Villa, 2-Bedroom Garden Water Villa or Private Island become particularly interesting.
Who Might Prefer Another Maldives Resort?
This is one of the most important questions to ask before booking.
Cheval Blanc Randheli is exceptional, but it is not the perfect resort for every type of Maldives holiday.
If Your Priority Is a Spectacular House Reef
Randheli should not be your first choice if your main reason for visiting the Maldives is to walk into the water from your villa and spend hours exploring a spectacular house reef.
The resort offers diving, snorkelling and personalised marine excursions, but its strongest selling points are its villas, service, dining, spa and privacy rather than an exceptional shore-snorkelling experience.
If house-reef access is your number-one priority, a resort specifically known for its reef should probably move higher up your shortlist.
Best Maldives Resorts with House Reef
If You Want a Casual Barefoot Atmosphere
Randheli has a relaxed island setting, but the overall experience is unmistakably polished and sophisticated.
Travellers looking for a more rustic, Robinson-Crusoe-style Maldives experience may find other resorts more appealing.
This is luxury with precision rather than luxury with rough edges.
If You Want an All-Inclusive Holiday With Simple Pricing
Randheli is better suited to travellers who appreciate flexibility and personalised experiences than those who want to pay one fixed amount and forget about every other decision.
Dining, experiences, spa treatments and other extras can become a significant part of the overall cost.
For travellers who prefer a straightforward all-inclusive structure, another resort may provide better value and predictability.
If Your Main Goal Is Value for Money
There is no getting around it: Cheval Blanc Randheli is an ultra-luxury resort.
You are paying for enormous private accommodation, exceptional service, privacy, dining, design and access to a highly personalised experience.
There are many excellent Maldives resorts that offer a stronger price-to-space or price-to-reef proposition.
Randheli makes the most sense when the objective is not simply to find the cheapest way to stay in a beautiful Maldivian island, but to experience a very high level of hospitality.
What Guests Say About Cheval Blanc Randheli
Guest feedback is remarkably consistent in the areas that matter most.
Recent Tripadvisor reviews frequently praise the service, villa quality, food, spa and attention to detail, with guests often describing the staff as one of the defining parts of the experience.
That sentiment is important because service is difficult to evaluate from photographs or a resort website. Randheli’s reputation appears to be built as much around how guests are looked after as around the physical property itself.
At the same time, guest experiences can vary according to villa location and individual expectations. Some travellers may prefer one side of the island or lagoon over another, while those arriving primarily for snorkelling may have different expectations from guests focused on villas, dining and service.
Our Take on the Guest Reviews
The strongest recurring theme is simple:
People remember the service.
The villas are spectacular and the setting is beautiful, but what repeatedly separates Randheli from many luxury Maldives resorts is the degree of personal attention.
That aligns closely with Cheval Blanc’s own Art de Recevoir philosophy: hospitality designed around the individual guest rather than a standardised resort experience.
Cheval Blanc Randheli Pros & Cons
What We Love
✓ Huge private villas
Exceptional space, private pools and multiple accommodation styles.
✓ Outstanding service
Personalised hospitality is one of the resort’s biggest strengths.
✓ Exceptional dining variety
Five restaurants provide considerably more choice than most island resorts.
✓ Dedicated Guerlain spa island
A major attraction for wellness-focused travellers.
✓ Privacy
The five-island setting creates an unusually spacious feeling.
✓ Excellent for couples and families
The resort manages to appeal to both without feeling designed exclusively for either.
✓ Highly personalised experiences
The Alchemists can tailor activities around individual interests.
Things to Consider
✗ Extremely expensive
This is firmly in the ultra-luxury category.
✗ House reef isn’t the main attraction
Choose Randheli for the overall experience rather than specifically for shore snorkelling.
✗ Extras can add up
Dining, spa treatments and experiences can substantially increase the final holiday cost.
✗ Not the most casual Maldives experience
The atmosphere is sophisticated and highly polished.
✗ Villa location matters
Different villa categories offer very different outlooks and experiences, so accommodation choice deserves careful consideration.
Is Cheval Blanc Randheli Worth It?
For the right traveller, yes.
Cheval Blanc Randheli is not trying to compete with the Maldives’ best-value resorts, nor is it primarily selling access to an exceptional house reef.
Its proposition is different.
You are buying into a complete ultra-luxury experience built around space, privacy, personalised service, exceptional dining, wellness and beautifully designed private residences.
The 46-villa scale helps preserve a sense of exclusivity, while the five-island setting gives the resort room to create different experiences without making the property feel crowded.
And that is ultimately why Randheli stands out.
Our Verdict: 9.7/10
| Category | Our Rating |
| Villas | 10/10 |
| Service | 10/10 |
| Dining | 9.8/10 |
| Spa & Wellness | 10/10 |

| Value for Money | 8.5/10 |
| Overall | 9.7/10 |
The Bottom Line
If you want a spectacular house reef, casual barefoot atmosphere or excellent value, there are better choices in the Maldives.
But if you want enormous private villas, exceptional service, sophisticated dining, a world-class spa and an extraordinary level of privacy, Cheval Blanc Randheli is one of the Maldives resorts that deserves serious consideration.
Our advice: choose Randheli for the quality of the entire stay, not for one individual feature.
Before You Book
The most important decision is not simply whether to stay at Cheval Blanc Randheli.
It is which villa to choose and how you want to experience the resort.
For couples, the Horizon, Water and Lagoon Villas offer very different interpretations of overwater living. Families may find the two-bedroom residences much more practical, while travellers seeking the ultimate level of privacy can consider the Private Island.
And because villa position, dining preferences and experience priorities can materially change the character of a stay, it is worth comparing the options before making a final decision.
Cheval Blanc Randheli: What to Know Before You Book
By now, the picture should be clear: Cheval Blanc Randheli is an exceptional resort, but it is not a resort you choose simply because it has beautiful villas.
The villa category, location, dining style, length of stay and your priorities can make a significant difference to the experience.
Here is what we would consider before booking.
Which Villa Should You Choose?
There is no single “best” villa at Randheli. The right choice depends on what you value most.
Best for Honeymooners: Horizon Villa
If this is a romantic escape and privacy is your priority, the Horizon Villa is one of the most compelling choices.
Positioned at the end of the pontoon, it combines a large private residence and 12.5-metre infinity pool with expansive ocean views and a greater sense of separation.
Choose it for: privacy, panoramic views and a special-occasion stay.
Best Classic Overwater Experience: Water Villa
The Water Villa delivers the quintessential Maldives experience: an expansive private residence positioned over the lagoon with direct access to the water.
It is particularly attractive to first-time Maldives visitors who want the iconic overwater-villa experience without compromising on space or privacy.
Choose it for: classic overwater living.
Best for Lagoon Views: Lagoon Villa
The Lagoon Villa is worth considering if you prefer the calmer, more sheltered character of lagoon-facing accommodation.
It retains the same generous scale and private pool while offering a different perspective over the water.
Choose it for: lagoon views and a more tranquil setting.
Best for Beach Lovers: Island Villa
If you would rather wake up with your own stretch of beach than stay over the water, the Island Villa is the obvious choice.
At approximately 240 sqm, it is also larger than many conventional Maldives beach villas and combines beachfront living with a private garden and pool.
Choose it for: beach access, families and travellers who prefer solid ground beneath their feet.
Best for Families: Two-Bedroom Villas
Families travelling together should look beyond the standard one-bedroom categories.
The 2-Bedroom Garden Water Villa and 2-Bedroom Island Villa provide considerably more flexibility for families and groups, with the latter offering approximately 315 sqm of space.
Choose them for: families, multigenerational trips and longer stays with children.
Best for the Ultimate Private Escape: Private Island
At the top of the accommodation hierarchy is Randheli’s Private Island.
The approximately one-hectare island features four bedrooms, more than 2,200 sqm of space, a 25-metre private pool and dedicated facilities including a private spa treatment room, fitness centre and screening room.
It can accommodate up to eight guests.
This is not simply a larger villa. It is effectively a private resort within the resort.
Choose it for: families or groups seeking the highest possible level of privacy.
How Many Nights Should You Stay?
For a resort at this level, we would recommend at least four nights if your budget allows.
Three nights can work, but the experience may feel rushed once you factor in the seaplane journey, dining, spa treatments and excursions.
3 Nights
Good for a short luxury escape, particularly when Randheli is part of a longer Maldives itinerary.
4–5 Nights
Our preferred range for most travellers.
This gives you enough time to enjoy the villa, explore the dining options, spend time at the spa and still have days with no schedule at all.
6–7 Nights
Ideal for travellers who want to slow down completely and make full use of the resort’s dining, wellness and personalised experiences. For a resort designed around unhurried luxury, a longer stay allows the property to reveal more of itself.
Getting to Cheval Blanc Randheli
Cheval Blanc Randheli is located in Noonu Atoll, north of Malé.
For most international arrivals, the journey begins at Velana International Airport before continuing by seaplane to the resort.
The flight takes approximately 40 minutes, depending on operating conditions and routing.
But the arrival experience is part of the holiday rather than simply a transfer.
The seaplane provides the first real impression of the scale and beauty of the Maldivian atolls as the aircraft crosses the Indian Ocean towards Noonu Atoll.
A Practical Tip
Allow some flexibility around your international flight connections.
Seaplane operations depend on daylight hours and weather conditions, so arrival and departure times should be considered when planning your international flights.
For this reason, we would avoid creating a very tight connection between your international flight and the resort transfer.
When Is the Best Time to Visit Cheval Blanc Randheli?
Randheli can be visited throughout the year, but the experience changes with the seasons.
December to April
This is generally the most popular period for a classic Maldives holiday, with a greater likelihood of dry, sunny conditions and calmer seas.
It is also the period when demand is typically highest.
Best for: first-time visitors, honeymooners and travellers prioritising weather.
May to November
The southwest monsoon brings a greater chance of rain, cloud and changing sea conditions.
However, this does not mean the Maldives is simply “closed” during these months.
There can still be long periods of sunshine, and lower-season travel can offer a different atmosphere and potentially more attractive rates.
Best for: flexible travellers, longer stays and those comfortable accepting less predictable weather.
How Much Time Should You Leave for the Spa?
Don’t make the mistake of treating the Cheval Blanc Spa as something to squeeze into an already packed itinerary.
The spa occupies its own island and is one of Randheli’s defining experiences.
If wellness is important to you, we would schedule at least one substantial spa experience rather than simply booking a quick treatment between other activities.
The same principle applies to dining.
With five restaurants, there is enough variety to make your meals part of the holiday itself.
Should You Choose Breakfast, Half Board or Another Meal Plan?
This is one area where there is no universal answer.
At a resort like Randheli, the decision should depend on how you intend to spend your days and how much flexibility you want.
Travellers who expect to dine around the resort, enjoy long lunches, order drinks and use the spa or other experiences extensively should look carefully at what is included in each available package.
Those who prefer maximum flexibility may find a more flexible arrangement preferable.
Our Advice
Don’t choose a meal plan simply because it appears cheaper at the time of booking.
Instead, compare:
- What meals are included
- Which restaurants are covered
- Whether selected menus or supplements apply
- What drinks are included
- Whether dining credits or other inclusions are provided
- How often you realistically expect to eat outside your accommodation
At an ultra-luxury resort, the difference between the advertised room price and the real cost of the holiday can be substantial.
What Should You Book in Advance?
You do not need to schedule every minute of your stay.
In fact, we would recommend the opposite.
However, several things are worth arranging early, particularly during busy periods.
Consider Reserving in Advance:
✓ Your preferred villa category
The accommodation is a major part of the Randheli experience, so villa choice deserves priority.
✓ Special dining experiences
Particularly if you want to experience Le 1947 or have a specific restaurant schedule in mind.
✓ Spa treatments
The Guerlain spa is a major attraction and preferred appointment times can be limited.
✓ Private excursions
Yacht experiences, diving, marine excursions and other highly personalised activities may require planning.
✓ Special occasions
If you are celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary or birthday, tell the resort before arrival.
This gives the team time to personalise the experience rather than trying to arrange everything after you arrive.
What We Would Do Differently at Randheli
If we were planning our own stay, we would resist the temptation to over-plan.
We would spend the first day simply enjoying the villa and island.
Then we would build the stay around four things:
01 — One exceptional dining experience
Make time for one of Randheli’s signature gastronomic experiences rather than treating every meal as routine.
02 — A proper spa day
The dedicated Guerlain spa island deserves more than a rushed appointment.
03 — One personalised marine experience
Rather than assuming the house reef will be the highlight, let the Alchemists tailor a snorkelling, diving, yacht or marine excursion around your interests.
04 — Plenty of completely unplanned time
This may actually be the most important one.
A resort like Randheli is designed for guests to slow down.
You do not need an itinerary from breakfast until bedtime.
Cheval Blanc Randheli vs Other Ultra-Luxury Maldives Resorts
Randheli sits in a very competitive part of the Maldives market.
Travellers considering it may also be comparing properties such as Velaa Private Island, Soneva Fushi, Soneva Jani, Kudadoo Maldives, JOALI Maldives or One&Only Reethi Rah.
The important point is that these resorts do not offer identical experiences.
Randheli’s strongest combination is:
Huge villas + personalised service + sophisticated dining + Guerlain wellness + privacy.
Another resort may be stronger for a particular niche.
For example, a traveller obsessed with house reefs may prioritise a reef-focused resort, while someone looking for a highly individualistic barefoot-luxury philosophy may prefer a different property.
That is why we recommend choosing the experience first and the resort second.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, for travellers who prioritise ultra-luxury, privacy, service, dining and spacious villas.
It is less compelling for travellers whose primary priorities are affordability or exceptional house-reef snorkelling.
Absolutely.
The combination of private pools, enormous villas, secluded locations, personalised service, fine dining and the dedicated spa island makes it particularly well suited to honeymoons and romantic celebrations.
For maximum privacy, we would look closely at the Horizon Villa.
Yes.
The resort offers family activities, children’s experiences, large two-bedroom villas and a Private Island option.
Its accommodation scale also makes it easier for families to enjoy privacy without feeling confined.
The resort offers snorkelling and diving experiences, but its house reef should not be considered the primary reason to book.
Randheli’s main strengths are its villas, service, dining, spa and privacy.
Travellers whose number-one priority is shore snorkelling should compare it with resorts specifically renowned for their house reefs.
The resort has 46 private villas, spread across five islands, with each villa featuring its own private infinity pool.
The current dining programme features five restaurants, ranging from relaxed all-day dining to Italian/Mediterranean, Japanese/East Asian and French gastronomy.
There are also three bars and 24-hour in-villa dining.
The resort is reached by seaplane from Malé, with the journey taking approximately 40 minutes, subject to operating conditions.
Final Verdict: Is Cheval Blanc Randheli One of the Maldives’ Best Luxury Resorts?
Yes — but for very specific reasons.
Cheval Blanc Randheli is not the resort we would recommend simply because someone wants “a beautiful Maldives island.”
There are hundreds of beautiful islands.
Randheli is for the traveller who wants something more refined.
It is about enormous private villas, exceptional personal service, outstanding dining, a dedicated Guerlain spa island and an extraordinary sense of space and privacy.
The five-island setting gives the resort an unusual feeling of freedom, while the relatively small number of villas helps maintain exclusivity.
And perhaps most importantly, the resort does not rely on one spectacular feature.
The villas are exceptional.
The service is exceptional.
The dining is exceptional.
The spa is exceptional.
The experiences can be highly personalised.
Together, those elements create the real reason to stay.
Our Final Score: 9.7/10
Best for: Ultra-luxury travellers, honeymooners, couples, families, food lovers, spa enthusiasts and anyone who values exceptional service.
Think twice if: Your priority is a spectacular house reef, casual barefoot simplicity or the best possible value for money.
Our Final Recommendation
Cheval Blanc Randheli is a resort to choose when the quality of the entire experience matters more than any single feature.
Come for the villa.
Stay for the service.
Explore the dining.
Make time for the Guerlain spa.
And leave enough of your itinerary empty to simply enjoy being in the Maldives.
